Waiting For Hemingway

Today I completed a rather large, 48 x 48, oil painting I've entitled "Waiting For Hemingway". Can't take credit; D.G. said the painting evoked that feeling for him so it is appropriately named.

The accompanying photo is of the details of one of the boats in the painting. The palette is Sorolla's; so calming yet lucious. Like the Master, I have climbed a ladder to reach the top of the canvas, delighting my friend and painting companion, Judy Kirk!

The painting has been a joy to paint and has brought a respite from the sorrow attending the minutes of the day. It is my hope that this cartoon brings you solace.

Best to you and yours for the holidays.

Libby,

I find it simple but very powerful. I rarely work on large canvases, but I like the idea of having just the nose of the boat on such a big canvas.
Happy and Merry Holidays!

So glad you like the boat Veny. This is one of the largest I have painted. Went to your website and wonder: how do you find time to paint:) Love your work, all of it. Wish you and your lovely family a happy, peaceful holiday. Fondly, Libby
