Blog

And While I'm On It . . .

As a student of art I constantly learn from workshops I attend; books I read. A copious note taker, I refer to my notes months, sometimes years, after the workshop.  I loved the pallette of Colley Whisson and knew I would refer to it again. Off the Beaten Path is painted with Colley's pallette. Shadows in blue and greens, touches of red and orange with the sunshine warming the canvas is his lovely yellow. That lovely yellow.

A New Medium

To grow as an artist, as a person, one must try new adventures.  Over the weekend, I painted on paper made for oil painters. Sipsey River Afternoon actually has properties of a watercolor; it has an ethereal look about it. I actually used a watercolor trick and put a water "x" on the back of the paper to relax the painting. It worked!

Old dog; new tricks:)

Beaune, France

I've written about Beaune, France, in a prior blog. My trip there was magical. Bicycles in Beaune takes me back to that special town whose inhabitants love artists and bicycles. The chateau I called home was located at 19 Rousseau Deslandes.
